Project Twiddles Twirls Flower

The Project Twiddles Twirl Flower has become one of my favourite flowers to make for twiddle creations. Patients can run their fingers through the flowers for a sensory experience.

These flowers are very easy to make and such fun.

So here we go!

  • Begin by chaining 6 stitches. Make a circle by placing hook into first chain and doing a slip stitch. You have 6 stitches.
  • Chain 2. Counts as 1 DC (double crochet stitch). Place 1 DC in same place. In each following stitch place 2 DC. (12 stitches.) Join with a slip stitch.
  • At this point you could change colour.
  • Working in the front of each stitch only, chain 7, turn, make 1 SC in second chain from hook and in the following 5 chains.
  • Slip stitch into next front stitch and repeat the process around the circle until you are back to where you started.
  • Join with a slip stitch into the back of the stitch and repeat the 7 chains into each stitch. Once you have competed this process around each stitch, fasten off. Weave in the ends.
  • You have now made a Project Twiddles Twirl flower.

Once you are confident with the pattern you can make changes like: make a bigger flower by making your chain bigger at the beginning; and make each petal chain longer or shorter and in different colours.

I use buttons to attach the flowers to the twiddle creations.

Happy creating, but most importantly, have fun!
