There are many flower patterns available on the internet – for both knitting and crocheting. I like using simple patterns like this 8 petal flower. Through trying out some patterns you will find the ones that suit you.
I am using double knit and 10 ply (aran) yarn, and for both yarns, a size 3.5 mm hook. In the photo you can see the difference in sizes in the 3 flowers which I think is an added bonus.
To make the eight petal flower:
- Chain 3, join with a slip stitch into the first chain
- Make 8 SC into the centre, join with a slip stitch into first stitch of the previous row stitch
- Chain 1, in the same stitch, make 1 SC
- Into each following stitch place 2 SC (16 stitches)
Now its time to make the petals:
- Chain 3, in the same stitch, make 3 DC together, pull yarn through the 4 loops on the hook, chain 3 and finish off the petal with a slip stitch into the same place
- Slip stitch into next 2 stitches and chain 3, repeat making the petal into each stitch around the circle.
- Fasten off.
Attach the eight petal flower onto your twiddle creation with a button.
Happy creating!
